Is there a trick to removing the ball ends of the heater lever knobs?
Do you unscrew them? Pull them? Mine appear to be glued on, but perhaps they're just clipped in well.
The image below is for reference - the ones I'm working on have been mangled and I'm trying to replace them.

Well, in 65-66 they had different knobs on there, rectangular in 65 and colored round 66.
They just popped onto the end of the metal arms. Just a press fit, not intended to be removed, so if you pry them off they might not want to stay afterward unless you glue them. |

Thanks, Andy.
Related: was the black round (left lever) and red round (right lever) combination a change for 67-72 then? |

On 67's.
Black, left, cabin heat/defrost.
Right, red, heat on/off. |

A-ha! Alright, thank you.
I presume they went to the double black lever setup, then, 68-72? |

Take an adjustable crescent wrench or pliers and position it under the knob. Start tapping upward on the wrench or pliers with a hammer and the knob will lift off of the arm.

Excellent trick to get these buggers to come off. Thanks for sharing. |
