Hey guys I’m wondering if a dual port empi 34pic t-3 carb would work on my single port 1600cc? I had a solex 34pic so would it work? |

Yep, should work ok. You can get an adapter to make it bolt right on |

The size and bolt spacing of the intake manifold flange is different, but as noted you can get an adapter. If you're cheap however, you can also get away with slotting the holes in the existing flange to get the later carb to bolt straight on.
My two cents here, but unless you're just trying to get the car running out of necessity and that's the only carb available to you, I would pass on the idea. The 34PICT-3 doesn't pair well with the normal single port engine distributors, can be finicky to get to work well with a 009, and it isn't really going to be a performance upgrade either due to the SP intake manifold being too small to take advantage of the larger carb bore. |

I've been out of the game for a long time, but last time I looked the adapters were to mounting a 30 series carb onto a 34 manifold. Not the other way around. And they do not work the other way around.
I would just get a nice solid 30PICT-1. Hell, guess what I have on my 1600dual port Baja engine via the opposite adapter? Yes, a 30PICT-1 (aftermarket clone that I expected to hate but instead liked enough that I just left it on there. This being back in the days I actually drove that car.) |

I think you're right about the adapter. I had it backwards in my mind, I'm thinking of the H30/31 adapted to my 1641 dual port bus engine ten years ago! |

If you are trying to keep your 30Pict SP intake you have a few hurdles to overcome.
The stud spacing will be different between a 30Pict and a 34Pict carb. This is where the suggestion to drill out the stud holes and turn them into slots. You can then use longer bolts to hold down the carb.
The smaller opening in the top of the 30Pict intake means you need to add a spacer or at least a thicker gasket so the 34mm throttle plate does not bind up on the smaller 30mm intake opening. Depending on the thickness of this spacer you may need even longer bolts to hold down the carb.
You may need to re-jet the 34Pict carb. Try running it as is and see how it performs. |

Some new aftermarket intake manifold center sections come drilled to use either type carburetor. But you'd also need to buy single port end fittings for that, so really not worth it to try to go that route just to use a 34PiCT carburetor.
Slotting the holes in your existing manifold might work.
I don't even know if one could somehow engineer the available adapter to work upside down in some fashion. |
