So I've got a '66 Beetle with a '68 dual carb 1500cc engine. Thing runs lean, so I want to get in and clean them ... but I want to know what I'm working with so I can adjust and synch them when I'm done. For that reason I don't want to remove them to get better access to model numbers, wherever they are.
Looking down the carb throat, I can see "32-34-22" cast into the top of the venturi.
On the side and on the choke cover it clearly says "Solex", but I can't figure out what the hell it says beneath that. Using my mirror, it's impossible to decipher, at least with my eyes. Picture came out like crap, so I guess I was hoping someone familiar with these could fill in the blanks. Looks like it says "brass" under "Solex".
If anyone could ID these, and post a link of any service info / adjustments I'd REALLY appreciate it!
I'll try to get some better pics tonight. It's a huge PITA!! Phone will NOT cooperate ...

Those are the Brazilian 34 Solex. The numbers you described mean that this venturie will fit into a 32 or 34 mm diameter carb throat but the inner diameter at the narrowest point is 22 mm. The carbs you have are sold by some companies such as CB Performance- https://www.cbperformance.com/product-p/3284.htm
These carbs are not the same ones which came on '67 Type 3 which were 32 PDSIT.
The "Bro..." under the name Solex is Brosol. |
