Update: September 17, 2024: Some pages were not coming up and gave a "500" web page error. They were not copied over correctly and should all be fixed.
Update: September 16. 2024: Issue with using and viewing special characters like the ', ", and the Euro monetary symbol is resolved
Original post:
September 16th, 2024.
I am planning to move the site to a new larger server (more space, newer) today, September 16, 2024.
The site would be down for a few hours from approx. 5:30 AM - 9 AM.
(California time, PST)
There is a message at the top of the site with a notification. |

The new server had a last minute issue so it has been delayed.
I will update this thread with a new date/time when I have information. |

Woah but No, they were not related.
The upgrade is now set for next Monday, September 16th, 2024.
Same time frame: Around 5:30AM PST and hopefully only for a couple hours. |

| Yes, it would be nice to do it on super off hours but my current provider isn't available in the middle of the night for non-emergency stuff. |

Did the default character set of the pages change with this upgrade? All the non-alpha-numeric characters are broken now (maybe it's non-ascii characters).
An example:

It really proves that today's labor force has a healthy work/life balance.
Salute them for earning and taking rest that our grandparents fought for.

An hour's pay for an hour's work.
Plenty of people work overnight hours.
Doctors, cops, fireman and so on. If everyone only worked the hours they wanted to, this world would be in bad shape.
But, YES... there needs to be a balance between work and family. |

Non-standard characters, like the degree, ellipsis, and copyright symbols are giving me an "error in posting" when replying to threads.

I'm worried your generation can't tell the difference between a life-saving service and a toy car website. |

I can not seem to renew a couple ads now, gives me a contact someone message. Not a big deal, just saying.
Thanks for this great place. |

An internet hosting company doesn't look at the business they are hosting.
The data center I still work for supports, hospitals, insurance companies on mainframes and also does business hosting. We don't care what their business is. We give 24x7x365 support. |

Yes, there's some issue with special characters like that right now which I am investigating to fix.
It also includes more common stuff like the ' and " marks but only if they are the "special" ones that I think mostly Apple devices use.
So don't use those for now. :) |

Thanks for this great place.
Renewals should work now.
There was an issue sending out emails for a short period so if someone was watching your ad to get an email update, this may have caused an error.
I think this is what was wrong but if not, post an ad # or link and I'll check it out |

Thank you, I fixed those and a bunch of others I found.
They didn't copy over correctly to the new server.
If you see any more pages that come up like that, please let me know. |

EDIT: NVM…caused me trouble for a couple days but it’s working now! 8)

Can’t post in Vanagon forum, every attempt comes back “error in posting” message.
I’ve tried with & without special characters, even with no punctuation at all…no good.
I’ve logged out & back in several times, same story, only on the Vanagon forum.
Works here, obviously.
Just me???
