Hello! I am looking to replace the connector to my hall effect sensor as the wiring has gone bad. The mechanic said the sensor itself looks good just the wiring. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a replacement and was told the volkswagen does not make them anymore. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! (For context, I have a 1981 volkswagen vanagon).

Being it doesn’t show as working for an air-cooled, this probably won’t.

But just showing it IS available on later water-cooleds.

Also this is a wonderful vendor, takes phone calls, and Ken loves to help. He’ll know your options as well as anyone.

Aside, Welcome!

Unless you know for sure that your Hall sensor isn't all that old, I would just replace it as the electronic don't last forever.

here are your pics from the gallery :)
unfortunately, the plug is specific to air cooled, CA spec'd vans :(

i can see some questionable wiring that will need to be cleaned up, probably cut back and properly replaced. if the plug is not physically broken, you're either going to have to try and use it (possibly retro-fit the guts of a replacement module to what you have?) or adapt to a whole new digifant style plug.

Just an FYI. Vanagain is now 3d printing digifant and digijet hall plugs.
I have no experience with either one, I'm just on his mailing list and noticed them.

Since the aircooled and the Digijet both have vacuum advance, can the Digifant parts be used on either?
