From the rusty remains of my 54 it looks like possibly a second layer of steel around the shifting lever mounting. I have looked through some photos but it is not clear. One looks like there is a second panel but others do not.
Hoping someone has a photo or some knowledge of this.

I did find this floor that appears to have a second layer spot welded on but this is an early Gerson panel.

After a lot of browsing photos I searched through my pile of rust and found the old floor reinforcements. Now I can see details of the lower panel I hadn't noticed before.
Believe I have all the information I need to make up accurate drawings. I also see how the floor was welded down to the reinforcements.

Not sure if this helps as it seems you’ve gotten some good photos. Note the early weld nuts, and the radiused area around the forward footrest mounting nut.
