My throw out bearing failed the other day and I figure it’s probably worth while to replace the clutch/pressure plate, bearing, clips, and some other things for good measure while I have the car apart.
Last time I did this job was on a Super and I didn’t care much in my youth, so I just bolted shit down and ‘sent it’ as the kids say.
I care a bit more about my 64 and am curious if there should be any thread lock (or anti seize) on the bolts for the plate and if there is a torque spec I should adhere to.
Thanks! |

18 because the 8.0mm x 1.25mm bolts go into steel flywheel.
Most 8.0mm x 1.25mm on the VW engine are 14 ft lbs as the case is softer metal.
Yes, I use a little blue Loctite threadlocker on the pressure plate bolts. |

| If not using threadlocker liquid, use the factory-style "wavy" lockwashers under the bolt heads. |

I think I used both threadlocker liquid and the factory-style "wavy" lockwashers under the bolt heads.
No - I don't wear both belt and suspenders ! |
