View original topic: Looking for reference/dimensions/material of insulating washer

Hello everyone,

I am rebuilding the starting motor of my 1965 Sedan.
It is a Bosch EED 0.5/6 L34 (VW reference is 111 911 021).

Unfortunately, an insulating washer (label 17 in the following image) was broken before I dismantled the moto.
I am looking for a new one, but it seems it cannot be found as a standalone part. Indeed, in the official VW exploded views it is listed as part of the kit n° 111 911 320 "Small parts kit".
I found a kit for round 40€ but I only beed this specific washer.

So, does someone know either its "standalone" reference and/or its dimensions and/or in which material it is made ?

Kit would be better choice. Search internet for the part number, there are cheaper options.

Thx for the answer.

I indeed saw that offer, and 18.50€ for the item + 24.99€ shipment leads to more than 40€.

I have the opportunity to either 3D print the washer or to create it from a bakelite sheet. So if someone know if it is indeed made of bakelite, that would be cheaper for me.

Ive seen "phenolic" washers that are cheap, I dont know exactly if it would work in this location.
Might be worth a try.

Well, I found some other rare stuff to buy on the website you mentioned, so I bought the kit there.

Thx for the help.

Good deal. Since alot of the cheaper modern possibilities dont live up to original quality and wear different, I usually try to get original parts when I can.
Alot of the time, after replacing, it will probably last another 30 or so years, depending on what part it is.
