Thought you guys might get a kick out of this. Went last weekend out to the desert with my ‘60 ragtop with a 36hp equipped with a 74mm Porsche A/B crank with chromed journals, rods journals cut for shortened VW rods, 8:0 compression, stock jugs, WW Okrasa kit, 12v conversion using the Tudor alternator and Pertronix module.
My friends old tunnel buggy is built off a ‘56 Ghia pan, built way back in the day. Has a stock 36hp with vintage home made intakes with 28 Solex PCIs with the chokes removed and homemade Okrasa like linkage. Runs like a bat out of Hades.

At first I thought it was a 12V generator on a 36hp stand....I've been looking for a review on that 6V alternator setup.
Whats the word? Is it good? Consistent output?
Contact cleaner really goes a long way making a 6V system wake up, but that could be the final solution.

I've seen that discussion....but nobody has actually offered any first hand info about it? It's all of us just asking "How does it work!?"

I’ve been that Tudor set up now for four or five months. It’s exposed to the elements, it went through a thrashing along with the rest of the car last Saturday, and it’s works flawlessly.

That’s way more expensive than the Tudor one.

I didn't say it was cheap lol was just pointing out that there are kits out there ....I can bet if I never posted the link to it no one would know that there are other options that no one knows of or talks about ......

Nice to see old off road beetles. How about pics from BAJA 1000?

Another point, for ex in germany, in the 70 and early 80 years at many military barracks on sunday, there were offroad races with modified beetles. For ex at monteith barracks fuerth, germany. Who has pics? Thanks!
