Hey everyone, I just wanted to share the huge news. We have finally released our new Squareback rear apron skin. These are stamped steel, NOT fiberglass. After many months of test fitting and modifying samples, these are finally ready to go. Check out the pictures and I'll see what else I can share here from the development process. I would love to keep you all in the loop with what we are working on.
We also have Fastback rear apron skins in the work. They are pretty much the same, but feature the mounting spots for the license plate bracket. I'll share when those are available.

Looks good from here. Now all you need to do is take out that upper indent, so we can use them on a Notchback. |

We just received our latest rear apron skin for Fastbacks. These are just like the Squareback skins, but have the nuts for the license plate bracket.

Those are good looking pieces, but if I needed one for my wife's Fastback, I'd have to order one for a Squareback due to the license plate mounting of a bracket on the trunk lid (no plate holes in the rear apron). I think that's a 70-73 thing for a Fastback. KTPhil, can you verify this on your 71? |

I am by no means an expert, but I think Fastback aprons changed in 1970. |

No problem, I just thought I'd point it out that there was a year change on that part. Since I have a 70 Fastback here with the plate bracket on the trunk lid with the higher mounted plate light. From 70 on it would use your Squareback apron.
If you guys could take the upper indent out, then add the plate nuts to it, then you'd have an all years Notch back rear apron, since they didn't change thru the years (61-73). Just a thought. |

Yes, the '70-up fastbacks mounted both the license plate andlamp on the deckled. The earlies had the plate on the apron and the lamp assembly at the lowest edge of the deckled. Something about license plate and bumper height standards maybe? |

Here are the reproduction "Hüls" camping hinges we recently finished. I've wanted to make these for the longest time and after donating a hinge for the project, we were able to make it happen.
Here they are installed in a customer Squareback:

Those rear apron skins are -SO- needed.
Pretty much every type 3 out there has the apron all bent up from someone clearancing for a header at a point in the car's life.
Once the ribs at the bottom get crooked, they tend to stay that way,
And the bodywork to get them back straight again? Brutal.
Nice work. Big contribution to the type 3 community. |

I am super stoked to have these. We used to have so many apron sections and had new cars coming in to cut up. Those days seem to be over and it's probably for the best considering every Type 3 we cut up is one less future customer! |
