I believe I've found the VIN - while it was being advertised there was some debate from the door kickers as to it's year - some argued 68, others argued 71.
The Vin is 148029385 - based on
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/chassisdatingkg.php
This car was produced in 67, but advertised as a 68?
Just wanted to get another set of eyes on tihs so I know what I'm dealing with.
Thanks in advance. |

148 = 1968 model year. Model year is different than calendar year. 1968 model year is August 1967 to July 1968. 1969 model year is August 1968 to July 1969. And so on. |

There are differences.
1968
Smaller front marker and tail lights.
1971
Larger wrap around front/rear marker and larger rear taillights.
As Era Vulgaris mentioned, VIN beginning with 148=1968.
August through July production is for the following model year.
So yes, a Ghia produced in August of 67 would be for the 68 model year.
One of my 67 Ghia's was manufactured in December of 1966. |
