I'm looking for info on drop spindles for our vintage speed cars ..I notice that all there is on the market are 2 1/2 dropp spindles ..stock beam narrowedbeams is a no go since some will say that dont quality for vintagespeed or beam adjusters only drop spindles stock beam so with 2 1/2 drop linkpin spindles with stock tires155x15 ,165x15, 560x15 will rub ... are there any custom spindles like 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 or just 2inch dropp spindles.. I don't care about having it as low just wanna lower it so it looks better than stock height and no rubbing ... why don't we see other spindle drops other than 2 1/2 |

I've also wondered why 2.5" drop is the standard and why other options aren't available. I presume the answer is in beam adjusters to fine tune the stance and drop spindle makers shyting away from making and keeping up with multiple custom spindle options.
There are lots of pieces of the puzzle to achieve what you're looking for, the spindles are one part it. I suppose the "vintage speed" way would be to put adjusters in a stock beam, and lower it about an inch.
I'll share what works for me; I have full lock-to-lock turning with no rubbing, and don't have any scraping issues. And I'm very happy with my car's appearance and drivability.
2.5" drop spindles, 4" narrowed beam with adjusters and castor shims. Front wheels are repop deep 6 Fuchs narrowed to 4.5" (I did this because I didn't want the "crabbed" look of 4.5" Fuchs and wanted them to have the same outter profile as the rear wheels). Tires are Michelin XZX 135SR15. I've tuned the height using the adjusters, and the car tracks straight and rides nicely. Had I not gone with the custom front wheels with the negative offset I'd probably have settled on a 2" narrowed beam.

I believe the reason that drop spindles are all 2 1/2" is because of the speedometer cable hole location in the left spindle. Tom |

Lol...anyone who says beam adjusters don't qualify for Vintage speed needs to talk to Dr Porsche - he thought they qualified to the extent they installed them on the production line. |
