I was replacing my manifold seals making it necessary to move my coil temporarily. When I did a wire broke from something that looks like a capacitor. This thingy was mounted next to the coil and is wired with the connectors on the positive side of the coil. Is this a required part? If so where can’t I find a replacement?

A picture of the “capacitor thingy” would help.

If it was on the + pos side of the coil it was a 'noise suppression' capacitor. 'They' short AC voltages to ground resulting in less static on the radio sound. If it was on the - neg side of the coil it could have been a relocated ignition condenser.

He did... but there are restrictions displaying it since he's just joined and posted only once.

Just look at his gallery. its the only picture he has.

Kinda rules out relocated ignition condenser
