Was this not the worse , strangest halftime show ever? Me and a friend spent the first two quarters working on a car in the driveway, popping into the party every nkw and then to see the game, then we finishsd on the car and went into see the halftime show and get some food with the others who are into football. Saw that halftime show, what garbage, what was it about? bad song, bad lyrics, bad performances, bad uniforms. Like what the hell was that? The halftime show left everyone at our party hating it, we all left the room, talked over it, left to get food, or take a dump.
Gawd it was horrible.
How about having a first rate collage marching band for halftime next year?
What you all think?
These halftime shows are getting worse and worse every year. what was that crap they infected the game with. |

The audio team did him dirty….
Kendrick called out Drake (another popular rapper) for being a pedophile in a stadium full of people. Even the crowd was singing “A minor” part. Looked the camera straight down the barrel when he said “hey drake, I hear you like them young”.
To top it off, he even got Serena Williams (Drake’s ex) to crab walk during the performance—absolute gold!
I get that the general public isn’t big on rap, and I understand your point. But personally, I enjoyed watching it, especially since he wasn’t lip-syncing like most performers.
Kendrick also won 5 Grammys this year alone.
“The revolution is about to be televised. You picked the right time but the wrong guy.“
Polls are showing most people did not enjoy the show. |

Sza and Serena were great, the rest was unintelligible crap with mostly bad choreography, agreed. I don’t want celebrities called out for pedophiliea , I want them prosecuted.
Prince Super Bowl show still the Gold Standard |

This post will likely get deleted.
I saw about half of the half-time show. I was at my daughter's house and remarked that if a white performer had an all-white dance crew, that would've been strongly denounced as racism. I obviously don't understand.
I admit that I never even heard of the performer until about a week ago. I wonder if that situation was similar for most of the attendees.... |

Yes they did.
That being said it’s tough for stand alone hip hop/rap acts meant to bring in younger viewers to project energy on a broadcast. Dr. Dre and friends was interesting but still not amazing (Some disagree with me). That being said. what’s his nuts from Maroon 5 was absolute garbage with guest performances by Big Boi & Travis Scott.
I’m a hip hop fan. My first concert I helped promote in the 80s was Ice-T, Doug E Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, and Eric B. & Rakim. Was one of the most boring shows I’ve ever seen. I did see Kendrick Lamar perform at Coachella a couple years ago and he was good but not mind blowing. Maegan Thee Stallion was fantastic.
^^^ I included a bit of my music history above because as a white male in my 50s I enjoy hiphop even though the genre was not intended for me, ever. Yet I still got it.
That halftime show failed to deliver. Had some great talent but was a dud. I suspected it was going to be exactly that. So predictable. Cheers to others whom enjoyed it.

I do like a huge wide varity of music, some of each... classical, western, acid rock, metal, hip hop, funk, Mariachii, opera, easy listening, folk, etc... I am all over the place with music, I like what I like, no matter what it is called. My play list probably confuses the marking types at Spotify.
But this so called halftime entertainment was horrible, I couldnt figure out what they were trying to do, it was noise, with weird acting.
I think a plain old marching band will appeal to a much wider audience than some star grammy person, I dont, as do must folk follow the grammies. I want to see and hear something nice, beautiful, complex, talent, with great instrumentals
This show was just a bunch of weirdo actors slithering across the stage, with the main guy wearing a chain with the letter "a" around his neck shouting meaningless words.
I suppose if one is a fan of this particular "artist" it was good, but for the masses, this was ugh.
Good grief most of the performers were wearing mismatching sweatpants and shirts. One chick while slithering on here back with here belly showing looked to be either pregnant or over weight. Here belly hanging out, it was just plain weirdo.
But then again some people think a banana duct taped to a canvas is considered great art. I just dont get that style, mist folks dont get that style, weirdo stuff.
The show was only appealing to a very very small segment of the viewers, to most it was like, what the Hell is that garbage? Run Away!!!!
Oh well, the game was just as bad score wise. Last half had zero excitement.
This is the one football game a year that I might usually watch, (I enjoy the company and food at a super bowl party) Next year i will just hang in the garage with my buds and wrench on the cars during the game, and come in for the food, and a soda. If I want to watch TV, I will watch Hogans Heros, or Get Smart, something that is actually entertaining!!! |

The commercials really sucked as well.

I dont think anyone posting here was the target demographic for Lamar. People love Carrie Underwood at the superbowl...
The pregame had plenty of great local marching bands if that was your thing. They were pretty great |

Super Bowls 3-13 (technically, there was no SB 1 or 2, they were called something like the AFL-NFL Championship Game) were just championship games played in the afternoon, typically at 3pm Eastern Time. There was no 5.5 hour pre-game show for a bloated 4-hour game.
SB 14 was played at the Rose Bowl in Los Angles (Steelers-Rams, my brother attended, we're from Pittsburgh), and for that the start time was about 6:30pm Eastern so it started in daylight and finished in darkness with the lights. After that they were all that later prime time start, and half-time shows and new commercials became "the thing".
If I had even heard of the halftime performer half the time, I'd be surprised. It's like never, ever hearing of the music guest on Saturday Night Live, but the applause signs go on an the audience acts like each is their all-time favorite performer.
September 28: Jelly Roll. DON'T KNOW WHO THIS IS
October 5: Coldplay. DON'T KNOW WHO THIS IS
October 12: Stevie Nicks. A REAL STAR
October 19: Billie Eilish. NOT SURE WHO THIS IS, ASSUME FEMALE, ONCE SANG A BOND TITLE SONG?
November 2: Chappell Roan. ... DON'T KNOW WHO THIS IS
November 9: Mk. ... DON'T KNOW WHO THIS IS
November 16: Charli XCX. ... DON'T KNOW WHO THIS IS
December 7: Shaboozey. DON'T KNOW WHO THIS IS |

From another point of view:
“Kendrick told the story of Black male unadulterated authenticity. The iconography alone was brilliant.
Black men in durags.
Black men in formation of the American flag.
Black men in dreads, and golds singing du wop.
Black men not presented in a safe lense.
Samuel L. Jackson AKA “Uncle Sam” (The Ring Master), it was at that moment, the characters were set. Samuel represents the “Safe, Performative, Docile” negro. He’s pleading with him to make white America comfortable. Kendrick is clearly the antithesis of that.
Kendrick is clearly in a defiant mood and performs squabble up.
Uncle Sam responds by screaming at him to “Stop being so loud and ghetto!”
Kendrick responds by playing “Humble”
‘Be humble, sit down’. It’s noticeable that Black men are the American flag as he performs this acquiescence.
Then he remembers himself plays “DNA”.
“Royalty & Loyalty in my DNA”
This is when the crowd lights up with the message
“Warning, wrong way”
Then he plays Euphoria. Cries out… “I’m reaping what I sow, okay?!!”
Transitioning into “Man in the Garden” where recites how he deserves it all….the success and the criticism that comes with it. In the midst of it all trying to remain authentic.….hence why Samuel L. Jackson says….
“Oh I see you brought your Homeboys with you. Score keeper deduct one life!”
K Dot then leans into album favorite Peakaboo…I think it’s important to note the line that embodies that song “What they talking about, they talking about nuthin…”. His defiance is evident, even as he realizes the fakeness of it all.
At this point he ushers in SZA and embarks on what Uncle Sam lauds him for performing nice and easy “This is what America wants to see….”
Kendrick smiles in the camera and plays the controversial song that garnered him acclaim….with Record & Song of the year….so the question is….isn’t this what America wanted?!?
Not Like Us is performed. Including the verse that has ruined Drakes entire life.
He then ends with TV off. With the message being
“Game Over”
Essentially telling us the ‘Game’ that is he was expected to play…is over….he didn’t do what was expected…and yet he sort of did.
He literally told us before NLU was performed that
“This is Bigger than the music” and I have people on the timeline arguing about the music.
Truth be told. This performance may not be everyone’s cup of tea. That’s okay. I believe a message was sent to make people, particularly white America uncomfortable. Not an easily digestive show.
He was reclaiming the idea of Black male identity on a white stage. He did that tenfold. In the face of Uncle Sam, in the face of the sitting President who attempted to use Black men to divide our race-in which he was mildly successful in that. Kendrick addressed this with only subtle gesture of someone who thinks before he speaks.
I appreciate a show that required me focus in and peel back what was being done.
He told you that the revolution will be televised. You picked the right time. But the wrong guy. He meant that.
Special shout out to Serena Williams who made special appearance, crip walking- an obvious nod to when she did this after a victory and was immediately lambasted by media for being “To Ghetto, To Black”. Obviously Serena being from the same neighborhood of Kendrick and also shot at Drake.” |

Haven't watched ANY football game since the late 90's.
Me & a coworker used to stand near the row of TVs on Sundays & act like we were greeting customers.
I don't spend 5hours at a stretch once a week watching over paid men try to get a pork belly over a line- always busy with something.
I heard they can't hit with the helmet first. What's next ... participation ribbons ? Way back when linemen would break fingers, tape them together, & be back in the trenches.
I understand - concussions do real damage.
American football :
... men in tights
Wrestling :
... punks in trunks
Pickle Ball :
... c'mon, get real.
( Varsity Tennis/racquetball throughout HS )
"HEY YOU DARN KIDS - GET OFF MY LAWN " ! !
anyone seen my 10mm, I just had it
Big business, not my bag ... stay safe

^^^Yup still a theme unfortunately. And that half time show was not meant for many of us here commenting. It’s meant to connect to a younger audience going forward. It was not a great halftime show imho. I think Kendrick did a fine job, the dance performance was fine, and the sound engineers sucked. KL is talented. Was a shame to waste the opportunity to enhance the message.
Back in the day, this. Same same but different

Sounds like he is a racist son of a bitch, as all racists are if indeed he tried as you say " make white America" uncomfortable" little wonder I thought his performance was total garbage trash. racism has no place in any place, specially on my TV set. I was disgusted by his antics, and you have explained why he was so disgusting. I also dont think he represents black folks, no person represents a race. It is racist to think that. |
