Faulty relay, many have opened it up, watched it work and given the tab for the spring in there a tiny bend, you can't make it any worse by trying, but if you aren't feeling mechanical buy a new one. |

Agreed, old relays have an electromagnet and contact points. Look for a broken internal wire and you should hear it click when you activate the switch. |

All wiring original?
All connectors on relais, switch and fuse box sitting properly strong?
What about parking light, low beam, high beam?
Is there power on terminal 30 at fuse box, switch and relais?

Careful with new high beam headlight relays; they don’t always come correct for your buses wiring harness. Wolfsburg West sells the relay with included jumper wire to make modern relays connect.
What sucks is getting the mandatory jumper wire into the fuse box; that’s why we recommend trying to get your original working first.

If one acquires a headlamp relay with FIVE connection terminals, one can alternatively connect terminal-30 to the unfused side of the fuse-box's direct battery supply, to gain the NON-North-American headlamp flasher facility that was standard in most other countries. 8) :D
