I have the old school original wipers on my bus. I remember back in the day you could buy the inserts that went into them. We had a ton of those when I was growing up and that was how you replaced wipers on German cars back then. Literally, just had like really long ones and cut them to length with a pair of dykes. I have been looking and it seems they sell something similar but not with the notch to lock them in. Do they still sell them or will I have to McGuyver it? I have a set of ones that will work but not that notch. Remember, I probably changed thousands of them when I was a kid working at my dads shop growing up. |

wiper inserts are pretty much a lost cause these days when I've looked for them, other than the MDX where Acura has them OEM. RockAuto was the best source but some were already oxidized that they sent me. Napa has a line too that comes by width, length and mounting. Otherwise I've found that most everyone sells the whole blade. |

I was buying the Bosch wiper assemblies from Wal mart a couple years ago, dirt cheap and real metal, pull the rubbers and sone silver spray paint and it's just like brand old. I haven't looked lately to see if they still have them, our local store cut back the auto dept dramatically.
There are some loose rubber inserts available for some cars, Volvo used a lot of German parts and the blades on one of them is likely the same length, but it was hard to beat $10 each for the new Bosch at wallyworld.
