Although we both wore charcoal-activated respirators (but didn't use a spray booth), a couple of weeks after my friend painted my T5 model in DCC Concept I caught the Type A flu, which developed into pneumonia, pulmonary embolisms and atrial fibrillation. I tried to recover at home until it became obvious that I wasn't going to. Then I had to be hospitalized and placed in the hospital's intensive care unit. In my hospital records I noticed that my treating physician thought that maybe I wouldn't survive the first night in the hospital. Then my painter developed afib, too, and also had to be hospitalized. His heart actually stopped beating and had to be re-started electrically. Luckily we have a really good local hospital that saved both of us. This seems to me like it couldn't have been a mere coincidence, and I think it had something to do with our exposure to the DCC Concept's fumes. So be really careful with that old-fashioned "high-VOC" paint!

Years ago, I was going to paint my '62 Karman Knotvhback with DUPONT IMRON paint. However, I was told I would need to wear an entire climate-attached suit, as it was that dangerous. I went with Acrylic Lacquer instead.

Thanks a lot, Jack; that is very kind of you. I am actually feeling very well now and pretty strong, for an old guy. My doctor is trying to decide whether my afib was temporary or instead permanent, and if (as I hope) it was only temporary I will presumably be able to stop taking the medication that I have been taking because of it. My painter friend says he is feeling quite well now, too.
