My rear bench seat butt portion is broken. The metal piece cracked so now I’m afraid to have people riding in the back. Would you suggest welding it or finding a new seat portion? |

appears feasible to weld that "on-car".
(after gas-can moved).
Send me a PM if interested. I'm in south Seattle. |

I wonder if you could bend the flat peice (going side to side in the van) back into alignment with a hammer etc then install some sort of reinforcement like a metal bar and some nuts/bolts? Then figure out some other fix for the tubular part? There's gotta be a ton of possible fixes but welding would probably be the best.
I gotta ask - How'd that happen?
My wife bought a 92 Geo Tracker off of a high schooler and the driver's seat reclines to be fully flat but is all out of whack and twisted as if a heavy unequal weight was applied to it in unusual ways. My wife and I employ "smooth techniques" when using the back seat of our van as to avoid these issues. |

Let’s just say your boy’s got some massive game… just kidding I have some fat friends that sat on that side every time. Anyways thank you for that I’m thinking about throwing a support through the channel and welding the tube back together. |

The base unbolts from the metal z-bed frame and can easily be swapped if you find another one, replacing the entire seat is much more work. You could disassemble and reweld yours if you have the tools.
Looking at the rust and how much shiny metal(not much) is at the break point this has been broken for a long time. |
