Having an issue with my 81 Vanagon i’ve searched these forums and Google and a few other places and got some good information but nothing I’ve done has fixed it so I figured I would post the question. Turn signals were working fine and in the middle of a trip now when I hit the signal the green light on the dash comes on solid and no lights come on around the van. I’ll add my emergency flashers still work. With info I’ve got from here other places I’ve changed the relay (twice), both bulb sockets upfront and the turn signal switch under the steering wheel. I’ve also cleaned the rear contacts and new bulbs all the way around. I’ve also sanded and cleaned up both ground trees and grounds connected to them. I’ve replaced all the fuses in the fuse box with new fuses… I still have the same issue green light on on the dash not blinking and no turn signals whatsoever. Has anyone ran into this issue or have the fix that I’ve missed? Thank you.

There is a fuse for the turn signals and a different fuse for the emergency flashers.
The green led on the dash doesn't use either fuse.

Thanks Mark… I had also changed every fuse in the fuse box to new… so added that to my original post.

Almost as fast as I posted this up while frustrated, I figured it out. Blue with black stripe wire on back of the emergency flashers switch had popped off its spade and was interrupting the Relay. Oh well, at least I have new bulb sockets and a signal switch and cleaner connections :)

If nothing else maybe someone with the same problem will search find this and it helps them out.

Look on the bright side.. you just did all the work you would eventually have to do for lots of other future electrical issues. I've done almost all of those things one at a time over the years.

Rock the hazard switch several times until it works, it's losing contact in there from old age and gets the blinkers stuck not flashing.

Before I saw that you found your solution (and late to the game too) , I was going to post this reply . Heck for the same reason.you mention already. Here's

According to good info on the electricals diagrams of the T2 in the Technical section
HERE on TheSamba. Looks like the flashers' lights are all under fuse 11

No would NOT have thought of mentionning the back and blue wires
