I just picked up my first Buggy! It's a Desert Fox Scorpion LT. The Arizona title says it's a "reconstructed" 1969, but I really don't have much information on it. From what I have read, they're pretty rare and not many on the road in running condition.

I have been trying to sell/trade an old '67 Triumph Bonneville T120R motorcycle for almost a year with no luck until a couple weekends ago. I found a guy about an hour from me that said he was interested in a trade, so we met up and agreed to an even swap. It's in running and driving condition but could really use some work. The lights need to be completely rewired and it needs a turn signal unit installed (came with the buggy). The original fuel tank leaks and it currently has a 10 gal stainless tank behind the seat. The windshield is a very thin piece of plexy-glass and I'm not sure if the windshield frame is the correct one or not (supposed to be a mid '60's Datsun roadster unit from what I have read).

I have a lot of stuff going on right now, but hope to really dig into it this fall. Plans are to build a new chassis for it with a complete cage, all new lights, repair some fiberglass, new seats, new windshield, paint, lexan headlight covers.

Cool buggy!

It appears to have a swingaxle rear suspension which makes it 68 or earlier. If it was 4 lug then it's a 68. Wide 5 lug is 67 and earlier. There should be a VIN just ahead of the shift coupler cover plated on the rear of the tunnel.

Get it working/running/driving before any grandiose plans for new frames etc.

Thats what keeps most buggies off the road...owners dreams are bigger than their abilities or their wallets.

Its a nice starting point for sure. I wish my old buggies started off that nicely

I agree with just getting it driving first. How difficult will it be to find the correct windshield and frame?

The very first thing is to get a tag for it. I don't know how restrictive FL is. In GA it's difficult to get a dune buggy registered for the street.
