Hello All,

I have a 1962 Beetle with no hole for mounting the tail light.

Could anyone help me the correct measurement position for 1962 tail light ?? If we measure it from the fender lips that attach to the rear apron.

I attach a photo to give a clear explanation for my question. The tail light i use would be the same as my photo

Thank you.
Erik

That dimension marked in your photo is 10.16cm, or exactly 4 inches, measured from the edge of the fender bead to the edge of the tail light gasket.

Yes, three holes is correct...two 6mm holes to mount the housing and one a bit larger for the wires. The hole for the wires is approximately 46mm up from the lower mounting hole and in line with the other two.

sorry no help here BUT maybe you know someone with a good fender ???

this is such a common question not just for your year but for all year bugs . after market fenders rarely have the holes in the right place ...... for a split and oval bugs i have made paper templates to send to friends for there projects .... im suprised no parts venders have these simple to make templates available for the different years .

here is a HEART tail light template and a copy of it i made for a friend
