Hello, I have a question, I was pointed out by a thesamba member that there are 2 different types of bulkheads in doublecab/singlecab spiltbusses, the ones with the individual expressions (older) against the 'channel' indentation (like the baywindow), please see pictures for the differences.

We discussed that this change was made for the 1967 model.

And would this be a specific 1967 part, or would a 1968 panel would fit also? This would make my search easier.

Even better if someone would have one NOS?

The design of the separation panel changed for the 1966 model year. I believe you can use one from a Bay window single/double cab. On the BBT website they sell a replacement panel but it is the earlier design and it says that it can be used on trucks built from July 1965 to July 1979.

On a side note, I had that exact panel you need from a 1966 rust free double cab I parted out years ago. Unfortunately for you I sold it several years ago.

I would look up this in the late split bus Parts List , and see when it changed. What p/n is used for 1967?

Then I’d cross reference to a Bay Parts List and see if the same p/n is used.

Parts list says :

Splitbus ( correct exploded view)
B.19 261 805 431 C

Baywindow
(15) 261 805 431 B bis Fg.Nr. 211 2300 000
15. 261 805 431 F ab Fg. Nr/ 212 2000 001

So only the letters changed, does this means the part stayed the same?

If the suffix/letter changes, it is a different version of the part. That means it generally is not interchangable.

The first version has no letter suffix,
the next version is A,
then B,
then C, etc.

You can see how they list which VINs the version is used on.

Earlier parts/versions may be not listed, as they were NLA. remember this book was a list for the dealership to sell/install parts, used at the parts counter.
Generally, if it is just a cosmetic change, the new version may not get a new part number.

I'm guessing you looked at the 63 edition, updated through 1970 (meaning what was available at the dealer at that time). If you looked at an earlier edition of splitbus Parts List, you would probably see an earlier version of the part listed. C is the 4th version.
