So I just bought a 2004 Mexican Beetle...but it doesn't have the Ultima edition badge inside and its normal white instead of that powder blue or beige. It has everything else the Ultima has like the chrome trims everywhere, crest on the hood, whitewalls, etc. But from what I can find online they only came in those two colors and maybe a rare red color. Previous owner told me he bought it from a former Mexican plant employee who drove it from mexico to New Jersey and that it had Herbie decals and the slim bumpers with over riders like the 60s bugs when he bought it. The man I bought it from found some chrome 70s bumpers and replaced them to bring it back to stock after removing the stickers.
Did they make normal beetles in 2004?
Where can I find out more information on this car?
Everything is pretty different in the motor compartment too... Compared to my friends' 60's beetles anyway.
Where can I find parts like air filter and oil...maintenance items. |

theSamba has a resource for factory-issued model brochutes. On the home page near the top, go to Archives- Literature- Type 1- Beetle Literature- 1968 - up. Go to 2003 to find the Mexican production brochure, which has this page with the colors. The 2004 brochure has the Ultima model. Remember that for the USA, the production year bridges 2 model years. In your case, a 2003 (model year) brochure would apply to late 2002 (probably August) vehicle production thru approx. July 2003.

There were a few regular Beetles made as 2004 model years. All the trim you describe was added by someone. Get air filter for a '74 Beetle. Get the oil filter for a 1999 New Beetle with the 2.0 |

VIN says its an 04, but I guess it could have been made earlier. Thanks for the brochures. The handbook is nice too.
Really appreciate the replacement parts I'll need. Thank you! |
