Engine design based upon: John karsey/hot vw high mpg engine.

1745cc (76x85.5) (stroker pistons)with a CB performance cam similar to the 110. I have a stock weight flywheel. The engine is also set up for full filter flow with the Bob Hoover oil mods, with a type 4 cooler, 5.5" rods, demellow full circle race weight 76mm crank, Currently a gene burg 4 in one exhaust header with a vacume pipe mod for the centermount carb preheat, and a dual vac distrubitor and it's matching 37 picti 3 carb. I have a jag crank harmonic balancer pully like John Karcey (but with an alternator instead of a generator). the heads: vw of Mexico Dual port heads, ported and chambers volume matched, .041" deck and 8.5 to 9 ish compression. 3 angle valve seats heavy springs. Hd dual taper aluminum pushrods. CB performance center mount air intake with the “v” in the center. 68 oil bath intake with boudin tube.

76 with 5.5 rods which would make the engine wider than stock 1600cc ...problem is that these exhaust wouldn't be a straight on bolt on you would have to retro fit it to your wide engine if you did buy one of them ....

VS exhausts have flange fittings that allow for adjustment to fit. Unless it's quite a bit wider, should be no probem to fit.

But would the exh choke the engine cause it’s too small for the engine?
I like the look so I am pondering.

I never liked how the dual muffler exh hangs out like an afterthought.

By this site the vintage speed should be fine for your build ..

Like it .. no heater boxes.
I’m in Chicago.. heat is a necessity.
Plus I have original heater boxes.

But before you buy make sure you have the correct rear apon last thing you want to do is purchase and it's not compatible with your rear apon and be upset and pissed off ...
