I’m replacing the resivor on the master cylinder and the previous owner used orange sealer so it wouldn’t leak. Is there a gasket that goes between the cylinder and the reservoir? Or what is used to make sure it won’t leak.

What master cylinder are you working with? Can you post a photo?

It’s the stock master cylinder on a 1963 dune buggy. The resivor screws to the top of it.

This style? It uses an o-ring.

The one on my buggy always leaked too. I replaced it with a dual circuit master cylinder with a plastic press on reservoir.
