So, my theory for doing all this is that I can still have fun in my 356 with a type 1 in it while doing a cosmetic refresh of my 356 engine!
Got a new built type 1 engine with CSP Porsche cooling and this weekend got it in the car. The clutch and flywheel seem fine. Already got a 12v starter with 6v cog but the biggest challenges are tinware which I am working on and the throttle linkage as you need to adapt the stiff rod coming from the 356 pedal to a cable driven CSP throttle linkage. Any ideas? |

| Since you are not getting much info on here on your post ..you should try posting on the "kit car 356 replicas" fourm " you probably get more help on there ... |

| Your problem is the stock cable is too short so you have two choices, 1, Get a cable clamp and a short piece of cable to reach the single carb. and clamp it behind the shroud. 2 Buy a VW cable and use it while you are rebuilding your motor. |

If I take it right, he has a non original CSP cooling system, for a VW type 1 engine, but we are not knowing what kind or number of carbs or something else, he wants to use, or has parts there. Imo, it would be much better to show pics of his bunch of parts or ask CSP, what they can suggest. (imo, a strong type 1 engine in a 356 can evtl. be an upgrade of power, but never an upgrade in style and history) |

| So the problem is that the 356 had a stiff rod driven throttle and the type 1 engine has a cable driven setup. I am using the CSP porsche cooling setup. CSP throttle bellcrank and twin IDF 40 carbs |

| Have you installed the motor yet? If the bell crank mounts behind the shroud like Porsche does I'm not sure what the problem is you should be able to connect the rod to the bell crank. |

| Another thought, use the original Porsche linkage by mounting it to your new should. |

It seems, you need a individual and longer "rod" and eventually a individual bracket, affixed on engine case.
Or you connect a kind of bowden cable to 356 linkage, rod. |
