Last weekend I took my two boys in the Beetle to the Nurburgring for some camping and some car spotting. When I drove back home we were struck by very heavy rain. When I looked in the rear view mirror I saw the water coming in at the top of the rear window.
Back home I took out the carpets and let the car dry in the sun before storing it in the garage again. I already knew there are some small holes in the roof (see circle) and thought this might be the problem. But when I took a closer look I noticed a gap between the rear window rubber and the (PVC) roof.
Is this something that can be repaired/glued or do I need to install a new roof? PVC soft top is not in best state anymore and I would like to install a Sonnenland roof in future. I hardly drive the car in rainy weather and it is always stored in the garage so it is not something that needs to be done in a hurry..

Likely the wood or particle board frame for the rear window is warped, like mine was.
