View original topic: Anybody sell these sections to replace on a '73 Super beetle?

Hey all, new poster here. Long story short, traded a couple motorcycles for a project, started digging, found out I may be in a little over my head. Half of the electrical chopped off from drivers seat back for race ignition to engine, nothing but the speedo on the dash works, and rust everywhere. Guess I gotta start somewhere...

Anyway, several patch panels are seen where corrosion was cut and replaced. The two i'm trying to find more info on is the entire air box and the footwell support for the drivers side hood spring. I may just make another box, but does anyone sell a replacement panel for either of these?

Thanks for reading. I'll be doing lots of learning moving forward. I'm a little short of time so I'll try to get pics up later.

Welcome to the samba.

There is many mile of West Coast. Depending on where you live, there are some VW breakers that can supply you with replacement parts cut from junk cars.

One in particular,
Averys Aircooled in Kelso Washington. They have quite the inventory of used car parts and ship world wide if needed.

Here's another on the west coast. I've been to his yard a couple of times over the years, super nice guy and has tons of parts for all ACVW models.

Good info so far for contacts. I'm up north in Cali about 30 min drive east of San Fran.

It was easier to link photos instead of navigate the image system here (sorry about those ads). I'm not having a good time with it. The car used to be sunlight yellow, but PO primer most of it and hit it with matte black. I don't regret sitting in a 1303 instead of the 1302 because my 6'4" actually fits with the seat as far back as possible. I couldn't imagine being in anything smaller.

I didn't want to start a new thread for another question on the car, but it's not really related to the panels.

Since I'm trying to replace the rusty sections I'm also replacing the wiring harness. I caught a sale on the '72 super beetle harness by EMPI and I'm thinking it can't be much different than a 73, but is it? I've pretty much yanked out every bit of the remaining harness from the front and rear. The only bits left are still plugged into the fuse box.

If any of you guys have tips to prevent pitfalls it would be greatly appreciated.
