Got a new #... 825-394-8201
Was adamant about me getting a GVH report, said his name was James.
Told him I would check into getting one and then he slipped......sent me a link and tried to convince me to get it through his link! Blocked him right there.

What confused me was the fact that he got my phone #. It wasn't in the add, not sure if it's even in my profile. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Marcus

I believe people have posted something similar about that scam here in the past but I could not find the thread.

Your phone # is listed in your ad.
You can edit the ad and remove it if you are getting too many BS texts from scammers.

I moved this to the Buyer & Seller area as someone else reported this same user again today.

Same phone #.

Email was [email protected]

Website is Global VINs and/or Global VINs Hub, which both appear to be scam web sites.
(I'm not listing the exact .com addresses on purpose)

I experience the same thing. He told me to use a strange sight. Glad I googled his number. Saids his name is James from Fort Pierce Florida. Set a time to coe see the car. Before I give location I tried to call him his number saids it's out of order when you try to call.

What is his goal here?

What is his goal here? your money, even if $1 at a time.

Yes, money. It's always money.

They want to trick you into sending them money.

Any money you send to anyone is lost - Them, their "shipper" (it's them), any sort of service to do anything (it's them)

Glad i googled the number he is messaging me now asking for a TVI report

I just received a message from this "James" as well. Stated that he was from Weatherford, Tx. Agreed to the price right away and did not haggle but stated that he was scammed before so he wanted the GVH. He sent me the website and I googled the website and the results were all stating "Scam". When I messaged him back, he stated that he understood that the cost of the GVH was a concern but that he was genuinely interested in buying my "truck" after his first message even stated "1964 VW beetle". So I called him out on it and now he is not responding. What a joke.

@thesamba: I posted an add yesterday and was contacted by this guy by text. Where is he getting my phone number? Just don't publish my phone number ...

Maybe your phone # was in your ad?
This is the only place a phone # would be listed.

I see you edited your ad after the post above so maybe you removed your phone # now?

worldvinride.com is another scammer VIN report place that has been reported a couple times to me

ALLWAGONS Thu Sep 18, 2025 2:45 pm

We all knew each others vin numbers when I had a type 34. What can you do with that? Try getting one of my cars. See what happens!

EverettB Thu Sep 18, 2025 5:25 pm

I've had reports the websites are being use to steal all of your personal info.

So they probably don't care about the cars at all... which is a typical scammer thing
