Working on a 1979 fuel injected bug and original breather hose is long gone and some weird replacement jammed off to the side. Does anyone have pics of what the original breather hose looks like and how and where it is connected? I see a small connection on intake boot that has small plastic tube with dual wire connector as well. What is that and did it hook up there? Thanks |

Here are photos from my ‘78 FI. I replaced the breather hose a while back. It’s a tight fit from oil filler to air intake. It gets pinched. I had no issues.

California or federal?, there's two versions, since you don't share a location or vehicle details it's hard to guess...
You might try some searches for keywords like 'breather' or 'hose' in the fuel injection topic in the stickies at the top of this forum page, there's a number of solutions offered there. |

I appreciate the efforts and pictures but that didn't help me too much.
Yes it sure looks like your hose is bent and pinched off. I heard this can be a problem. That is why I am curious what the original hose looked like so can try my best in either fabricating or finding one. |

I can’t remember what online parts store has the hose but this is what it looks like.

I was going to cut the hose and add a 90 elbow to avoid the pinch point but once I got it in place I decided not mess with it. |

If this is the hose you are looking for, here is the quote for it from the FI thread. If not, ignore my post. But I am fairly sure you are looking for this one.
KKiley wrote: I thought I would post this part number for those that need to replace their hoses. The quality of the replacement parts are sketchy sometimes. This picture is the hose going from the oil fill to the S Tube. This was a brand new hose after being installed less than a week. The oil made the material so soft, it broke apart. You could not trim it back far enough to make the hose functional:
I ended going to Oreilly's and finding this hose. It was longer than this and had other bends, but I trimmed out the piece that I needed and it fit perfect and will not deteriorate. It is a Gates hose and I included the part number for future reference.
This hose has been in there several months and is still like new.
Hope this helps others.
Cheers
