Fuel filter fills, car cranks, runs till fuel filter empties. Have to wait till fuel filter fills again before it cranks. Them does the same thing again. Cranks and stops.
Any help appreciated . |

Where is the fuel filter located?
If level with or below the level of the fuel in the tank, a partially obstructed in-tank strainer would allow fuel to flow to the filter, but wouldn't allow enough flow to keep up with the demands of the pump trying to pull the fuel through such an obstruction.
Same could occur if there was a kink in the fuel hose under the tank, next to the transmission or in the engine compartment. The suction from the pump would cause it to kink further. Once the suction is stopped, the hose could relax and a small amount of fuel could flow through. |
