Does anyone know where to get a grub screw for a 1984 VW vanagon sliding door handle lock. My mechanic took my handles off to powder coat then. He remove the lock and when reinstalling the lock into the sliding door handle he broke the grub screw. Apparently it is NLA. The part number is n0130411. It is 2.6mm x 5mm and has a slot in the top for a blade screw driver. I would like to be able to use my existing lock so I can have only one key to for all the locks on the van.

2.6mm is a bit of an oddball where 2.5mm is standard. If it's indeed 2.6mm that limits availability.
Some local hardware stores may carry these small screws. A rural hardware store with a firearm hardware section is the best bet (they've got all kinds of small screws!).
Since they're probably the same pitch, I'd see if I can find a 2.5mmx.45 screw and try wrapping it in teflon tape to see if that fits.
Of course, all the options below require buying in quantity.

Edit: FWIW, I just measured mine from my '90 and it's 2.5mm. Also, these screws are held in place with a piece of goo from the factory. It's probably a good practice to do that on reassembly (versus over tightening).

| Thank you for your response. The Carr-McMaster screws don’t have that little square end on them. Apparently I need that to seat properly and hold the lock in place. I believe my mechanic overtightened the screw and broke it. Very upsetting. |
