Water cooled ! vw from around 1996 on use a rigid black pvc hose for brake vacuum.
Any and all models using it.
This is shrunk on where it joins other parts.
Over time it cracks there eventually falling off.
Symptoms including the engine running poorly and hard pedal are indicators though visual inspection is easy.
This may be dealt with ok in the USA, BUT people look the other way elsewhere.
No recall in effect.
