I recently had engine work done and just discovered this errant hose which I assume goes to the whitish connector in the second photo. Is that correct? Btw, what does that 'thing' even do? Thanks in advance.

That’s the cruise control pump. Don’t remember the hose layout. The manual likely has a section regarding cruise control. There should be a vacuum dash pot connected to the throttle body. The pump pulls vacuum on the dash pot to hold speed. The other end goes forward to the brake and clutch pedals. |

That should go to the vacuum pot connected to your throttle body. If you're not using your cruise control, I'll take that vacuum pot off your hands. |
