Has anyone removed the rear most upper bed board in a Weekender?
I seem to recall reading in one of Xtremjeepn threads about the board being glued and screwed in. But I could be completely misremembering.
The reason for asking is that somehow I have a crack in that board and so I'm thinking about replacing it with a nice piece of wood. And in case you are wondering, I only weigh 160 lbs. I'm not sure how it cracked. |

Well, you are Bigfoot so you must have some really heavy feet?
Guessing it's the bottom of the board that's cracked? My Weekender is under covers right now, but thinking it's some kind of vinyl covered particle board? Perhaps it's only the plastic that is deformed. Wonder if a vinyl wrap would work, though thinking it may not stick too well. |

I wanted to replace it with clear finish wood to match the other wood I have inside. I thought it would add a nice touch, but I'm not going to destroy the insides just to replace this piece.
I found the link to the body builder guidelines for transporter and in it they say this particular board is structural and can be bonded or screwed. Being westfalia they probably did both.
If anyone is interested in the pdf: https://storage.customized-solution.com/csp-public...1-2007.pdf
BTW, it's not my bigfeet it's my big belly from drinking too much Bigfoot barleywine. |
