Hi Folks, my south african 71 beetle, because of sanctions at the time, kept lots of the older parts when the rest of the world moved forward. Its completely stock but these are the front end parts. Thats why Im asking on this forum. Folks did not know over on the other, later forum.

No camber adjustment possible right?

I just adjusted the toe down to a couple of MM.

Just for fun here a picture of her in 1975, thats me on the far left.

Cheers

On link pin setups, there is no adjustment for camber. There are shims on both sides of the link pins that are determined by the offset between the upper and lower torsion arms.

If your camber is off, its either worn or bent parts or possibly the shims are setup wrong .

If you misconfigure the shims to change camber, you will put the suspension in a bind

Well, there's no simple adjustment for camber on a completely assembled link pin axle like there is on a ball joint setup. As chrisflstf said, the camber is set by adjusting the thickness of shim packs on either side of the king pin carrier when attaching the carrier to the torsion arms.

I'd assume that your axle is probably the 1960-on type that uses 8 shims per link pin.

Camber is cast into the parts.. shims are for assembly variances. Camber is NOT adjustable by the shims

You seemed to discount my suggestion that your tyre wear was a toe-in /out issue rather than camber when you asked in the 68 Forum.

Did you check the toe adjustment?

If the link pin setup cannot be adjusted for camber, then perhaps the issue IS toe-in or fast cornering?
