Can anybody help me identify these calibres. They are on a Manx style buggy. I know they are ATE the mountain holes are 3 inch centre to centre two blender two pin. Was told they where Ghia but when I received new calipers they did not fit so im guessing not Ghia. Wonder if they are maybe late bus calipers. Along with the ATE cast into them theirs is also the 30 cast and a 75 as well what do these two numbers tell me. The piston is stuck on the one so want tow get rebuild kits for them

ATE made brakes for lots of companies. I think I recall old disk brakes kits that used ATE/Volvo calipers. Maybe check those out.

If there are ANY pits on the piston or in the caliper around the seal area, those are paperweights. Check before you buy kits

Im pretty sure they were for a vw as VW is cast onto calipers. You can see in one of the photos. I have not looked at piston yet but I am really wanting to rebuild these rather then buying some cheap aftermarket ones. Does that make sense to you guys.

The cheap calipers on my street buggy are 16 years old and have been in some super harsh environments and used in lapping and autocross. Still work perfectly fine.

They might be type 3 calipers also. I'd go on the bus and type 3 pages and see if you can find a bolt spread measurement.

Look like they are from a Type 3 square back or Porsche 914 to me.

Check piston diameter. If 42 mm they are from an early type III. If that is the case, contact Jim Adney on the Type III forum and have them rebuilt.

There are very detailed and lengthy caliper rebuild threads on the Samba. A correct rebuild is more complicated than it seems. Your mileage may vary...
