I came across this - and while not really anything to prove towards the HiFi audio community, indeed something else to listen to other than road and engine...
Do anyone recognize this head unit, and could it be installed without cutting the steel dashboard on a 1968- car?

Probably still have to cut the stock opening.
Most if not all current radio/head units are single DIN or dual DIN in size.
This was invented after our aircooled cars were built.
I have a Ghia with 2 12” subs and a full compliment of front and rear mids and tweets powered with a total of 1000 watts.
With all that, it’s still impossible to drown out the engine and road noise. |

Thank you and many thanks thereafter also!
Indeed; https://auto-radio-land.de/d/blaupunkt/casablanca.pdf
So - it does not seem to be a retro/modern adaptation to avoid cutting dash - unfortunately;

| I’ve been very happy with Aurora Design radio conversions both in my VW and in an old Ford. Keeps the original look and case with “ modern” electronics with multiple options including Bluetooth and usb. There are several places that do it but I’ve used Tayman electrical. You would need to use a separate speaker somewhere. The radio before conversion does not need to work and an AM only can be used and still give all the options including FM. |
