 Hi there!

I’m Jay Bonano, been a TheSamba member since 2020 and a VW nut (specially Vanagons or Bugs)

I currently own three VW Syncros — a 1986, a 1987, and a 1989 Doka — all in different stages of adventure with the 1986 in restoration.

We started Volkybaru out of pure necessity. After years of camping and off-roading, I got tired of replacing my warped door panels every season — and the high shipping costs from other vendors didn’t help. So together with my brother-in-law, Gilberto “Wichy” Cruz, an engineer and the mastermind behind our tech, we decided to make our own solution.

Wichy owns the original “Volkybaru” — a 1963 VW Beetle powered by a turbo Subaru engine — and that’s where our name and passion came from. I’m a Combat Veteran with a background in logistics and administration, so between the two of us, we turned that mix of engineering and logistics into a small family business built for the VW community.

Everything we make — from 3D scanning to CNC cutting and shipping — is done by us, no third parties or hand-cut parts. Each piece is crafted as if it were going into our own vehicles. Plus, I’ve worked hard to get special UPS and DHL rates, so we can keep shipping costs as low as possible for fellow VW owners.

This forum has always been about sharing real experiences and helping each other out, and that’s exactly the spirit we try to carry into Volkybaru. If anyone has questions, feedback, or ideas — we’re always happy to connect!

Easy enough to upgrade that part so no big deal... Looking at them I don't think you can eliminate the fasteners. You can likely get ones with a slightly smaller and/or flatter head, but the ABS panel looks to be a single part. With stock door panels the clips fit between the panel and vinyl cover to hide them. That doesn't appear to be an option with this style.
