Hello All,
Looking for a little help in an issue I am having with the side door lock mechanism.
So the sliding door will not lock using the key or with the auto lock. It will only lock if you press on the door pin. This would be fine, but the door unlocks when the center locking is used on the front doors.
As a stop gap until I can really dive into this issue I am going to unplug the automatic locking mechanism in the sliding door.
Does anyone have any ideas why it would be doing this in the mean time?
Thank you |

Exact same symptoms as I've had several times: you can lock the sliding door manually, unlock it using the remote, but locking using the remote will fail.
Most likely your sliding door panel is loose and binding the mechanism.

^ This. This. This. If the panel is not tight, it will pull the plunger rod out/away from the door just enough that it will get hung up on it's travel downwards, feel the resistance, and then bounce back up (unlocked). I've gotten into the habit of manually ldepressing the lock plunger on the sliding door on my Weekender before I exit the van to avoid this issue. The real solution is fixing the door panel (for me at least). I rebuilt it a while back re-gluing all the tabs and using fresh "pins" but the door card itself almost feels a little warped and won't stay fully adhered all the time. Some permanent screws near the top left corner of the door card (and likely top right as well, shoot why not do all four corners while I'm at it) are my solution when I finally get around to it. |
