Good Morning. I have an antique British phone booth (cast iron, about 1200 lbs) that I'm planning on selling. Anybody familiar with them?

Thanks,
Dave

Paint it blue, and call it a Tardis.

I'll trade you a pack of Marlboro's and 13 Jack in the Box tacos.

 the tardis is a police phone box and completely different from the red K6 public phone box

I'm familiar with them as I'm in the uk...they usually stank of urine and the handset reeked of stale tobacco :-&

Dave has a completely different thing, and having helped move one myself long ago I pity his back, so incredibly heavy...., here's one from Ebay:

Round here they've gone upmarket since they became obsolete. Ones that are left in place get repurposed as free book exchanges and other 'community hub' type things.

I think they're quirky. I'd have one to hide my pond filter kit in if they weren't so damned expensive and heavy to move. >£2K for an unrestored one £3K restored.

in certain areas they used to be an early version of tinder too...

Its become much harder to dead drop my classified info since the demise of the boxes, I still havent found a good replacement.

Obviously a good place for people with hang-ups

They are cool and sellers list them on FBMP for a pretty penny. I normally see them outside British themed pubs or restaurants which makes sense. Not sure that I’d drop that type of coin on a decorative item for my home or garden.

Any pics that you can add would be cool. As with anything. Nicer models can warrant a higher price. Crappy ones can’t.

Thanks Guys (well most of you) for your comments!
It's disassembled right now but I'll get some photos in. I have all the original posters, light and hardware. Instead of an original phone from the period - I have what I believe is called a "pub phone" from a later time (60's?) in red and the only part I am missing is the floor. With its weight 1200 lbs. or so- shipping will be an issue!

So what’s your price if he’s allowed to say here?

Abscate Wed Nov 05, 2025 8:52 am

Ill haul it away for $233 from Dayton....

Not sure of what price I will ask because I've noticed there is such a wide price range for like booths on the net.
$233 won't make it!
