LOL. I was thinking the same thing.
Anyway, I have a similar problem in my 74 Super, the paint shop filled in a good 2-foot stretch of the seal channel at the nose of the hood, most of the front apron piece. Rather than F-up my paint job trying to scrape out the paint, I went for this.

Why not use the Mexican seal that was adopted for later models. It clips onto the lid sheet metal.
