View original topic: Idle control module versions

I just picked up a spare idle control module and I notice it’s a different version than the one installed in my ‘88. Is there any functional difference?
I installed it and found my van suddenly idled between 2000-2500 rpm, so not sure if it’s a faulty unit or what.

I'll take a stab at this until somebody that actually knows, comes along and corrects me.
What you have showing as original, is a 'D' version. As far as I know, for an '88', that would not be what was installed at the factory.
The 'D' version is supposed to have a slightly improved mapping, along with perhaps a less likely possibility of internal failure(s), possibly due to it being a slightly newer ICU...
The 'B' version is what would've been original in an '88'. I went thru a few of those before I got a 'D' version.
Personally, I'd trust the 'D' version. Not to say that 'D''s can't fail.
They both should work equally fine in your van.
