I'm assembling my '72 SB pretty much from scratch and need to know how these heater tubes connect to the pieces that come in from under the car. Are there special clamps for both ends? Friction fit? This is not a picture of my car but I have two of these tubes in a box and need to know how to install and fasten them.
Thanks! |

I've seen it done in a couple of ways. One is just an interference fit held together with seam sealer over the top. The other was just interference fit with a spot of brazing on it. I think the second of these may not have been done from the factory though as the car had evidence of collision repairs.
I'm sure others will chime in. |

As I remember, there are 2 tubes that connect each on of these to your (R) and (L) engine heat exchangers. On some cars, they are just "pipes" with hose clamps at each end to hold 'em on or even just a "push" fit, I believe, was the factory way. Some are "accordion style" tubes that can expand and contract a bit more-these are a good "push fit" to put on. I have the first kind, and use the hose clamps to keep 'em in place. If these do loosen and come off, you got no heat! |
