Is it possible to use one of the heavy duty R&P's on a daily driven baja? Are they reliable/safe enough ? Car also see's frequent fire road thrashing. Just ordered a warrior beam and have to re-do tierods any way and having issues with stock box. Any info would be helpfull.

It all depends on the rack you buy. The Latest rage rack has a turning ratio of 1 to 1 and may be a little extreme for daily street use. I run a Saco rack that has 1.5 to 1 ratio and it is ok on the street. My friend had a Latest Rage rack in his car and 2 inches of steeing wheel turn ended up in him being 2 lanes over in traffic. Just make sure you know the ratio of the rack before you buy it.

I have the latest rage rack on my buggy. I HATE it. it is soon going up for sale as I am going to use a 914 steering rack. much better ratio. I can make up that differencce with the turning brakes when off road. There is no way to compensate while driving on the street!

Are there alot of mods needed to use a 914 rack, well anymore than a lastest rage style one?

with my rediculously long wheelbase, the latest rage rack isnt too bad. i actually like it

don't you find it take a country mile to turn it around? mine seemed terrible in the woods. and yes i hav ethe stops backed out till the gear was visible.

hmmm. my turning radius is slightly large. i though that had to do with the wheelbase. i'll also have to check if theres anything hitting in the spindle to limit steering travel...

I think I have like a 112 inch wb. I know my extended cab short bed is bigger than my buggy but have not measured it. If I am remembering correctly(it is late here) rack moves around 5 inches or so? I do know that my brother in laws buggy is a few (5ish) inches bigger than mine. with a stock beetle box he turns circles around me.

I run a S10 manual steering box in my buggy and it drives like a cadillac down the trail,I can steer with one hand and keep other one on turning brakes for quick turns and hill climbing, and its indestructible
