While back I heard that someone might be making repro hurst bumpers? I haven't heard an update on this... anyone?

Also, did you see the ad for the O.G. front Hurst bumper the other day. I'd be curious to know if he actually got $1100 for it.

I have heard that there is a project in the works for correct repro hurst bumpers that will match the originals very closely.

IMO they are ugly, but I do like them a lot more after seeing UZI's KING panel with original-to-the-bus hurst bumpers. still, any hurst bumpers I find will get sent back to pennsylvania under UZI's pennsylvania made accessories buyback program. (hurst, judson, etc.)

I've heard it's in the works also....

Everyone interested needs to bug the shit out of Bricktop and 10 Foot Doug the Head till they FINALLY get off their asses and make it happen.

Yes i believe it was sold for $1100, A friend of mine was willing to pay that for it but it was already sold....

A friend of mine in Wisconsin has an OG front in a fab. shop getting one done to see if they can do it for a decent price. I'm not sure of his plans after that.

They need to be ON IT!

Does anyone want to take a stab at what repros would cost?

I would attempt it if I had some dimensions. I was going to try to measure one at Bulli Brigade.

Somebody needs to work up those dimensions in autocad. Then it'd be way easy to make your own. It do it. All it looks like is 1' tubing and 1/4' flat stock. Does anybody have any original Hurst brochures?

... mad props to Josh Wheeler's (a.k.a. Shitty Splitty) home brewed cow-catcher. That thing is wicked!

you can measure mine in 'kit' form and make patterns if you want. the only deal is that you dont sell 'em or make 'em for everyone and their brother. mark r and i made 3 of 'em 7 years ago. two are assembled, one is not. the tubing size is a bit off, otherwise they are damn close.

I agree with Krissi! It would be cool for about a dozen of them to be made and spread out! Not to be distributed in one area! Don't want the same thing happening to what happend to the Westy Racks! Everyone is making them! Now you can get those racks CHEAP!!

That is the beauty of these bumpers! They are rare and tough to find! And not an easy task to create. And Rafferty is the man!!!!!!!! You too Krissi!!!

And as far as what Linda commented...................that will NEVER happen. I have heard this song for a very long time and NOTHING!! So Linda...................CALLESE!!!!!!!!!!

ok, i have a silly assed question. What was the intended purpose of these bumpers? I think they are pretty cool, but just not for me. I hope some of you get your wish. Thanks

Front repo Hurst bumpers are already out there and he does a really nice job Hurst stamped in and all with all the hardware and etc. Don is also working on repo rear Hurst bumpers as well. Front Hurst from Don runs $795 plus shipping. PM me if you'd like his address and phone number.

I would say those are the best reproduced Hursts yet.

What sucks about the racks is the quality and I agree the flooding of the market. Look at BRM's and Radars now.

jeremyrockjock Wed Oct 13, 2004 10:07 am

I was tempted to ask Don if I could measure his but I didn't. I did some drawing in AutoCad a while back but it is completely based of pictures so it is not accurate.

The hard part of making then would be the tubing. It would require a roll bender. That would give me a reason to build one.. or buy one.

jeremyrockjock Wed Oct 13, 2004 10:15 am

I even modelled it in Inventor.

BUCIOBATISTI Wed Oct 13, 2004 10:25 am

If somebody wants to make a set with a SUPER low profile mount on the front for slammed Buses, I'd be interested. I already drag my steering box and the tip of my license plate when I go up and down my driveway. Mounting a stock Hurst bumper would certainly get me stuck on all kinds of shit.
