Recently my drivers side door handle has been jamming...button wont press in and door wont open (from inside either)...so I stuck the key in and wiggled it and it loosened up....button pushed in and door opened. So of course I need to do it again to make sure....shut the door and it jammed again, so I stick the key in again and now the key is stuck, need help in getting key out...dont want to end up breaking it off. |

Pull the door panel of and loosen the 2 allen bolts to the door handle. Take the door handle off, if you are not inclined to fix at that point take the handle to a locksmith. |

Shoot some lube (Break free, WD-40) into the hole, and take your time and wiggle it free. Afterwards take the time to lube the rest of your locks. Its amazing what a little lube can do. |

my handle was sticking also. i hosed it down with cleaners (PB Blaster and brake part cleaner) then lubed it up good with duralube or the like. it works perfect now. |

As mentioned. I'd take the handle off the door. Can you push the button in with the key stuck in it? If so, press the button in and remove the set screw that holds the lock cylinder in the handle. Be careful not to loss it. If you can't get the cylinder out spray some lube in there and try to work the key out.
Either way I would take the cylinder out and clean it with degreaser and then lube everything back up. Gabriel suggests using White Lithium grease (comes in a spray can). |

sounds like a case of crusty door mechanism.
when you have the door open, press the button, and with you hand move teh claw to a vertical position.. the claw that catches the striker plate. Now let go the button, let go the claw. press the button, the claw should jump out energetically with a click. It doesn't? well lube that poor puppy up... you broke the key cause the mechanism is all cruddy.
spray the mechanism with wd 40 or some thin lube first, then use oil or grease or that spray lithium gream stuff. You could even take the mechanisms out and clean them up in solvent before lubing, then reinstall.
repeat on the other doors. |
