mechanically it is irrelevant. The windows are cosmetic - or maybe a safety issue if you can't use just mirrors to see what's beside you! If want an original, unmolested bus, no windows are allowed. But if you making your own camper conversion - then "original" is out the window (couldn't help myself) anyway. What year is your panel? That would effect if it's soemthing you should cut or not - like a certain 57 panel in the classifeds that has been ruined!

its a '64...

i definately dont want a panel... couldnt sleep in a box like that.

Then sell it or trade it for a camper. Unmolested panels are getting harder and harder to find.

i'm considering buying it.

a panel turned into a camper without window.... eww... dunno... would feel like in a coffin

a 64 panel is far from rare - and not a big money bus. I wouldn't flinch too much over cutting it - If you can't afford to buy a Westy. You probably won't be able to afford a "real" camper for what your panel would sell for - panels are not that desireable or rare - especially a 64. Remeber that panels were produced more than any other type of bus. All that said - just buy a Bay window panel and cut it up - no one will care!

That DD roadrunner was a steal. I wasn't suprised it sold. Stanw3, I'm glad you didn't sell your bus, I need to get the jumpseat tracing done for you.

I wasn't suprised it sold - just bummed it wasn't to me! I saw it after about 200 views. There is a guy who has a 60 or 61 double door Sundial walk-thru panel that is gutted - no interior at all. NO rust either - and running driving - still has the camper windows in it. He's selling it - and I want it so bad - but $5kish for a bus with no guts is just too hard to swallow! I would have paid $5k in a heartbeat for that Roadrunner bus today. Patterns - yes - I still need patterns - please o please!

yah - more pics - need to post them. I'm doing body work right now. Next it will be mechanicals to run so I can take it to Havasu in January. The interior I will restore - but I'm missing a few items:
- jumpseat
- table
- spice rack for door
- rear seat/bed

MIGHT have a guy local who will sell me his interior kit.

I have a full length rear seat/bed that I will use. I was thinking about spice rack/ tables on both doors so my girls will have a space to color and draw while traveling.

so you are making your interior kit for the bus? Right? I would love a full width rear seat just for the function of it (I have 4 kids) - but I don't want to alter the Sundial interior I have.

I have a bay rear seat that will fit. I am trying to make the bus as functional as possible. I commute with both my girls 110 mile a day and want comfort for them. I have a 1968 Sears tent trailer that I plan to pull behind the split for addition sleeping space. I have been towing it behind my '71 hightop. It's great that the kids have their own space, plus it keeps the bus clean!

Don't mean to offend - but you put your daughters in a trailer behind your bus???? Good God man - think about it! I love my kids way too much to take that kind of risk. Do you have seat belts in your panel?? If not, think about getting something else to haul the kids in.

The dd is not on the road yet and I do plan on putting seat belts in for the girls.
