kekonaiii Fri Nov 19, 2004 8:42 pm

Ok it's the end of the swapmeet at Vegas and this guy comes by and is looking at a set of manifolds I got on the table. He says he has the carbs for it and really needs it. We talk for a little while and he offers me a way too low price and says that's all I got. He seemed like a pretty cool guy. He gets my card and says he'll emil me and I can send them to him. I tell him to just take them and send me the money.

Where's my money Bubba? :?

Yeah I know how could you be so stupid? Well I look at it as How could I be so nice to a fellow Vee Dubber and have him rip me off for a $40.00 part.

That's just about as low as the Mexican guy that tryed to steel a set of stock valve covers from me at Pomona. There was a few people around there when I caught him and looked llike a mob of sellers wanted to linch him. I really don't understand and still can't figure out why these suckers can be soooo petty...

Because it seems that alot of people on here think that trust has nothing to do with the vw scene anymore. Like when people says a bus comes with parts and looks a certain way and i trust that is true then people get on me instead of the seller. Because i should have looked better, thats fine if you feel that way but i still think your word should mean something. Good luck getting your money.

Jason,
Luck ain't going to help! Are you refering to the two buses I gave you???

Kona,

Do you have his street address?

If so maybe someone in the UK can knock on his door.

Last month I responded to a request for assistance from Norway. Morten (on the CLF) won a ebay auction took his money and never sent the item. The seller was in New York, so I was able to get a phone number and made a call. The girl quickly realized that the guy in Norway had friends that could showup and ring the doorbell. A few days later the item arrived at my house and I fowarded to Norway.

The Samba is World Wide.

Then chalk it up as a business loss.

In September I sent $20 to a Samba member for a pait of late model window cranks. He said he receivedtha money and would send them i a day or two. The next day his area was hit by one of the huricanes and I haven't heard from him since.

I checked his Samba ID and it has not signed on since.

I'm out $20, but I think he has bigger problems.

Glenn, It's great to see someone come through and help out somebody in need. It helps make up for the a$$holes we all seem to run into from time to time....Jim

Bubba's Name is Michael Hall and he lives somewhere in Denver, Co. His email addy suggests that he lives in the UK but it is not the case. He said yahoo created his email account there because the normal yahoo account was down for some reason... He also has another yahoo email account... its

[email protected]

That is also his wife's account... so who knows...she might beat the hell outta him for you. "Bubba" is a Dick and is the kind of person that you can't trust a word that comes out of his mouth. Last time I knew, he was working at a vw shop called "cool stuff" located in Arvada, Co. The # for cool stuff is 303-420-8989. Good luck getting him to pay up. If you need some muscle on this end... lemme know...

I think you said it, this place is world wide, there are known people here that have good dealings and should be reasonable trust worthy and so on. I'm from the Uk and if this guy was from here i'd be happy to help too. Also Jason I read your post about the two buses turning up in a real bad state, and many did put the blame at you, and in some ways its true only you can look after you or your money, but I'm also sympathetic to your argument about it and agree we need to have trust amongst the samba users, unfortuntately you get rogue's and scam merchants in all area's of life and in the end you have to take a trust no one stance unless you know them personally. Sad to say someone's word dont mean a thing these days, but the response we are often getting here saying we need more trust shows there are still a few of us out there that want to trust and be trusted

You got some good deals with me if you ever need anything....Just contact me and I'll hook you up...Even if he never pays it was nice to know how far you can reach out with other peoples help..

I still never got my money back from that guy Gene Moss in S.Carolina that stiffed me for 75.00 for some cams I bought from him.
