I had to drive up to Paramount yesterday, and just so happens that Griffen's Machine shop(the guys fixing my beam up), is located side by side with Oldspeed.. They had some sweet rides out front of their shop, and tons of projects there too. Nice cars are always a plus to show off their skills and proof that they really are VW peeps!

My first experience with Russell was to install my safaris, mostly because he said he'd do the work himself, that and the cost was considerably less that the other estimates i got. I went to pick it up 2 days later (yea, he did it in 2 days!) and the job was done to perfection he's a wizard with that welder. And as far as his character, here's an example of how just how good of a guy he is: while there to pick up my DC after the safari install, i mentioned to him an issue i was having with the electrical (brake/tail lights, blinkers and flashers) he crawled under there and within 5 min., no shit 5 min., they were all working correctly, cost=$0.00. I've been back to him for my front and rear disk brakes, type I conversion, gen. to alt. conversion and more.

I bought a few things from Russel. The prices and customer service is excellent. I will be buying a few more things from him in the future.

Sent me a complete narrowed beam with modified disk brake brackets (to fit the drop spindles) 2 WEEKS from phone call to delivery in Northern California thanks :D

Russ is awesome. Bought spindles link & pins and modified pitman arm. Also got narrowed tie-rods from him. Great service!!!!!!!!! Great under valued knowledge, very easy to deal with. I will call Russ to buy my disk brakes soon and will not have to second guess the process.

I agree with everyone else... without a doubt, Oldspeed is the place to go! I'm from Texas where VW's aren't too popular and a good mechanic is hard to find, but since moving to LA 2 years ago they are the only shop i'll take my 64 bus to.... its actually there right now!!

I stripped the splines on my 1969 bus rear drums and as it turns out only a 69-70 drum will fit... I could not find one.

Took the old one and the good one to Russ at Old speed and in a few days they were able to turn one off a older bus machine it and it works great.

To Russ and all the crew at Old Speed thanks again.

Just had some machine work done by Russ and I bought parts in the past. Super quick turnaround. Great guy to deal with!

We all work hard for the money we earn and we are willing to spend it on our hobby. We just want to know we can call someone or take the car into someone we can trust and not be taken advantage of.

I have had my car into a few shops over the years and unfortunately was treated as a number, taken advantage of and the shop/owners only interested in my money.

Old Speed and especially Russ was a nice treat to find. I was fortunate enough to be referred to them. Russ has spent a lot of time on the phone, email, PM.....with me to figure out some challenging issues. My car has been to his shop a few times and ALL was done prompt, as promised and with the utmost professionalism. I have a few more things that I need done to it so it's going back to see Russ shortly.

He is one of the good guys and under appreciated for his knowledge, experience and integrity.

Russ is a great guy he did some stuff for me on my pan. He is going to put everything back together for me. I bought one of his new front shock tower beams. I can say too! He is a real nice guy and he knows his shit!

Like the people say...Russell is a nice guy and so are his crew. I bought disc brake brackets, spacers, IRS conversion axles, and other parts from him. Old Speed has always had the right advice for me. I've bought parts here and there from Old Speed over the years and there's a guy at the shop who still remembers who I am when I call.

I emailed Russell about an issue I was having, a little while later he called me with a solution, picked up my items at OCTO.

Very knowledgeable, easy to deal with, great product...can't ask for anything more.

Ordered a 4" narrowed beam completely assembled (including porsche 5x130 disc brake set-up) on Jan 16, 2015 from Russell at Old Speed. Received email from Russell Jan 23, 2015 to inform me that my beam had shipped and provided a tracking number for me as well. 1-1/2 WEEK TURN on a COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED BEAM!!!

Russell is a excellent communicator, always answers his phone, willing to provide answers to all my questions/concerns and builds great quality beams with exceptional turn time. His sales staff was also great to work with! I can't wait to install the beam on my 55 Oval :)
